To keep up with the demands of global growth, my client is looking for a talented Software Installation Engineer who is passionate about problem-solving, is willing to learn on the job, and wants to work in a very diverse work environment.
As an experienced Software Installation Engineer and after a period of training you will be working predominately on client sites and the rest of the time from home with occasional office visits.
As an experienced Software Installation Engineer you will support the Site Services team in their day-to-day tasks taking care of the following:
- Working closely with the software services manager to deliver services to end customers.
- Writing and updating needed documentation before carrying a site visit (Risk Assessments, FAT and SAT documents).
- Writing site reports once a site visit is completed.
- Attending kick-off meetings with partners and/or end users.
- Identify, record, and track any bugs or issues found while on site.
- Working with the Software Services Manager and provide input to continuously improve our software and tools.
- Drive innovation and efficiency.
Experience & Qualifications needed for the Software Installation Engineer:
- Experience attending customers’ sites (power generations and Oil Refineries).
- Experience commissioning systems to meet customer’s agreed specifications.
- Experience attending offshore platforms.
- Experience with virtual machines (VMWare or Hyper‑V).
- Experience with PLC, DCS and/or SCADA systems.
- Strong Analytical and Problem‑Solving Skills; strong attention to detail.
- Ability to report to team leads and senior management.
- Experience writing site reports and risk assessments.
- Ability to interpret the needs of end users and help to design products to meet those needs.
- A valid certification to go offshore.
- Experience carrying out FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
- Experience designing and writing FAT and SAT documentation.
- Experience in analysing and providing feedback on applications and technical requirements.
- Knowledge of Azure Dev ops, JIRA or other issue management software.
- Experience with MS SQL Server and/or SQL.
- Ability to assess quality of products and highlighting improvements.

This is an exciting role where you will need to be flexible in your approach to work as you will be spending 60% of your time on client sites which are usually oil refineries, power stations, etc. and the other 40% of your time will be home or office based, The offices are in Chesterfield and you will need to live close enough to be able to visit occasionally and spend the first couple of weeks training.
