About this Opportunity
You are passionate about South Asian music and an avid listener of BBC Asian Network. If you are already creating your own podcasts, broadcasting radio shows, or curating and sharing playlists, this placement is for you. Proactive, with a positive “can do” attitude and outlook, you will gain hands‑on experience across BBC Asian Network, share creative ideas with programme teams across BBC Asian Network and the wider BBC family, and receive training from the BBC Academy.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work with multiple teams, rotating across departments.
- Take part in creative meetings and support production teams before and during live shows.
- Gain a full view of how a national radio station operates.
- Meet weekly with a mentor to support your development and future plans.
- Work flexible hours, potentially early mornings, evenings, weekends, and7‑24 station requirements; schedules will be planned to accommodate personal circumstances.

Formal qualifications or prior radio experience are not required. We focus on creativity, imagination, and a genuine passion for media and radio production.
Essential Requirements
- Career starters only: you must be at the beginning of your career journey (not qualified for those with previous paid BBC experience).
- Right to work: legal right to work full‑time in the UK for the duration of the placement.
- Age: you must be 18 or older when you apply.
- Interview: available to attend an in‑person interview and group assessment on Tuesday 8 September, 09:45–16:00 in Birmingham.
- Placement: available full‑time from 12October–4December2026.
