As a Data Center Manager at Amazon, you will help operate the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure— the foundation that powers everything from everyday cloud services to the most demanding Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning workloads.
Responsibilities
- Owning and managing the complete lifecycle of data center infrastructure—including rack installation, break‑fix maintenance, and decommissioning—to ensure seamless end‑to‑end operational delivery.
- Leveraging Generative AI and emerging technologies to build in‑house tools, automate operational workflows, and drive continuous improvement across the team.
- Managing and developing teams of technicians, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
- Maintaining existing co‑located and in‑house data centers.
- Helping build and bring online new data centers.
- Constantly improving all processes and procedures.
- Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
- Liaising with internal teams and management groups.
- Ensuring adherence to and exceeding local Health & Safety standards in all data centers.
- Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of data centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, and capacity management.
Qualifications
- Experience communicating complex business concepts in verbal and written form.
- Experience managing people and leading a team.
- Experience in crisis management and planning.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and cost reports.
- Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows).
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred.
- Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain).
- Experience in trust and safety compliance or risk.
- Previous experience in data centers or a similar technical environment with a track record of developing strong relationships across both internal and external teams.
