About the role

To keep up with the demands of global growth, my client is looking for a talented Software Installation Engineer who is passionate about problem-solving, is willing to learn on the job, and wants to work in a very diverse work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the software services manager to deliver services to end customers.
  • Write and update needed documentation before carrying a site visit (Risk Assessments, FAT and SAT documents).
  • Write site reports once a site visit is completed.
  • Attend kick-off meetings with partners and/or end users.
  • Identify, record, and track any bugs or issues found while on site.
  • Work with the Software Services Manager and provide input to continuously improve our software and tools.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency.

Experience & qualifications

  • Experience attending customers’ sites (power generation and oil refineries).
  • Experience commissioning systems to meet customer’s agreed specifications.
  • Experience attending offshore platforms.
  • Experience with virtual machines (VMWare or Hyper‑V).
  • Experience with PLC, DCS and/or SCADA systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to report to team leads and senior management.
  • Experience writing site reports and risk assessments.
  • Ability to interpret the needs of end users and help to design products to meet those needs.
  • A valid certification to go offshore.
  • Experience carrying out FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
  • Experience designing and writing FAT and SAT documentation.
  • Experience analysing and providing feedback on applications and technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, JIRA or other issue management software.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server and/or SQL.
  • Ability to assess quality of products and highlight improvements.

Work arrangement

This is an exciting role where you will need to be flexible in your approach to work as you will be spending 60% of your time on client sites which are usually oil refineries, power stations, etc. and the other 40% of your time will be home or office based. The office is in Chesterfield and you will need to live close enough to be able to visit occasionally and spend the first couple of weeks training.
