Spinwell is recruiting for an Information Security Assistant for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INFORMATION SECURITY ASSISTANT

Performing audits to ensure that information security is maintained to a high standard and in accordance with the relevant Security Policies and Legislation.

Providing guidance, advice and support on issues regarding information security at all levels within North Wales Police and to members of the public at all times. Whilst maintaining a good awareness of changes within the domain of data protection, information security and freedom of information identifying and acting on any issues that may need addressing.

Other duties will include, but not be limited to

  • Monitor information security issues and regularly review existing procedures and practices relating to information security within the Force, reporting omissions and identifying solutions to the Head of Information Standards & Compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments of Force procedures and systems in relation to information security, as directed by the Head of Information Standards & Compliance and prepare findings for inclusion within the audit plan and to assist with other aspects of information security.
  • To carry out research into Information Security issues as requested by the Head of Information Standards & Compliance.
  • Attend relevant internal/ external meetings to represent the Information Standards & Compliance Section, when required.
  • Liaise with the Data Protection & Information Assistant and the Information System Auditors with regard to Information Security issues highlighted by the work undertaken within their role.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE INFORMATION SECURITY ASSISTANT

  • HNC/D or equivalent qualification in a business-related area, or an equivalent amount of proven relevant experience.
  • An understanding of the audit function.
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology to enable the performance of an audit function in relation to the security of data.
  • Ability and knowledge to enable the identification of threats and vulnerabilities to the security of information, held both electronically and manually, and to identify suitable countermeasure.
  • Self‑motivated with good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines whilst ensuring accuracy and attention to detail is essential. An inquisitive, investigative mind would be beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills to be able to:
    • relate confidently to staff at all levels of the Organisation
    • work on own initiative and as part of a team
    • ascertain/collect information and convey into a comprehensive, easily understood format
  • It is a requirement of the role to travel throughout the Force area and it may be necessary to travel outside the Force area on occasions.
