Job Overview
Senior Cost Manager – Wales & West Region, Complex Projects. Reporting to the Cost Management Lead, this role focuses on building long‑term relationships with clients and internal partners, guiding technical service delivery, and driving cost management across projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the Cost Management capability, including development and use of Power‑BI, PRISM, Oracle, Deltek, Ecosys and other cost‑management related software.
- Engage the community of practice to support technical excellence, service innovation, and benchmarking initiatives.
- Unlock talent and develop the next generation of leaders within the team.
- Deliver excellent client service on commissions through quality assurance and regular client care.
- Support and manage teams on project/technical delivery.
- Leverage technical expertise in cost‑management services across complex infrastructure, including cost and work‑breakdown structures and measurement methods such as RMM and NRM.
- Build a strong network within the energy and/or infrastructure sectors.
- Provide management skills to advise project teams appropriately and challenge them on cost‑efficient solutions.
- Collaborate with project controls experts, including schedule logic and risk exposure.
- Use commercial, quantity surveying, finance skills, construction industry knowledge and contract forms (NEC/FIDIC/IChemE) to support cost control.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) and similar techniques to monitor and analyse cost performance against targets.
- Deliver the strategy for the Cost Management Service, identifying continuous development opportunities.
- Support business‑development activities, including key account management and recruitment investment planning.
- Monitor and manage Cost Management activity and associated expenditure within the remit.
- Produce high‑quality material for business use and understand internal business processes.
- Act as an ambassador for AtkinsRéalis and professional institutions, chair meetings, and maintain commercial accountability.
- Provide technical leadership and build a positive team ethos.
- Mentor and develop Assist‑Cost Managers and Cost Managers within the organization.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of supervising projects for or on behalf of local or national Complex Projects clients.
- Experience delivering exceptional consultancy projects and managing teams.
- Degree qualified in construction, finance, or a related field.
- Preferable professional qualifications: RICS, ICE, AACE, CaSA or similar.
- Relevant industry experience in cost‑oriented roles.

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment are dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of residency in the UK of 5years or longer.
