Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive RTR Lead Divisional Accountant (LDA) for a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this role you will report to the Head of RTR and serve as a vital link between RTR’s functional transactional pillars, Group Financial Controllers and Business Finance. Your primary objective is to safeguard divisional financial integrity within the General Ledger (GL) and to bring a clear divisional perspective across all areas of activity.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong support for RTR functional pillars.
- Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, business reviews and audit reviews, including a high‑level monthly review of the divisional Trial Balance to drive GL integrity.
- Manage challenging or complex reconciliations and postings on a temporary basis, refining and questioning existing workflows to enhance simplicity and efficiency before standardising them into the pillars.
- Conduct deep‑dive investigations to resolve unexplained balances and variances, especially where divisional experience is critical, to help clear errors and improve accuracy.
- Serve as a dedicated divisional interface between RTR and the Business Finance, FP&A and Group Finance teams to incorporate new finance activities resulting from business initiatives.
- Collaborate with FCs and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations during statutory and financial group audit activities.
- Train, support and mentor team members within the pillars while driving the team to measure and deliver defined service levels aligned with KPIs and SLAs.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for regular SaaS releases and other system developments.
- Partner with RTR managers and Continuous Improvement (CI) to identify automation initiatives, implement best practices and achieve sustainable operational efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Demonstrable divisional accounting and stakeholder management experience.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of communicating change.
- Strong passion for problem‑solving and a motivation to improve performance, services and outcomes.
- Organised, meticulous and able to work to tight deadlines under pressure while demonstrating resilience.
- Self‑motivated, comfortable working independently without micro‑management and capable of operating through uncertainty and change.
Key Criteria
- Excited by and supportive of financial transformation, process automation and systems solutions.
- Strong team player who builds collaborative relationships across functions and actively resists a blame culture.
- Experience of working through department transformation and times of significant change is desirable.
- Previous experience working within an Agile environment is advantageous.
- Experienced in solving problems with innovative, outside‑the‑box solutions.
- Experience with Oracle ERP is highly desirable.
Working Hours and Requirements
Requirement for longer working hours during intense month‑end close periods. Occasional limited weekend working may be required for critical period ends or systems testing for imminent software upgrades. Supporting across the whole RTR team if required during critical busy periods, sickness cover or other non‑regular occurrences.
