Role Overview
The Trainee Portfolio Analyst will assist with the maintenance and implementation of all centralised investment propositions across internal and external platforms. The Analyst will interact and liaise with various parts of the Wealth Management business to implement and facilitate the investment process from investment decision through to transaction execution for underlying clients. The Analyst will develop new ideas and solutions to improve efficiency in the centralised investment propositions, scale up service and meet the growing needs of the investment business. The Analyst will assist the team with maintenance and implementation of the investment propositions and with independent checks on bulk trading and rebalancing. The Analyst will build an understanding of the variety of platforms and products (Bonds, SIPPs, ISAs) used in the centralised investment propositions, assist with the collation and distribution of MI from external platforms as required, and with the multi-asset fund of fund range, ensuring daily responsibilities such as NAV oversight and monitoring inflows and outflows. The Analyst will support ongoing projects and deliver excellent support to the front office and exception client service to achieve a positive outcome.
Responsibilities
The Trainee Portfolio Analyst will assist with the maintenance and implementation of all centralised investment propositions across internal and external platforms, interact with various parts of the Wealth Management business, develop solutions to improve efficiency, ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards, assist with independent checks on bulk trading and rebalancing, build understanding of platforms and products, collate and distribute MI from external platforms, maintain the multi-asset fund of fund range, oversee NAV and monitor inflows and outflows, support ongoing projects, and deliver excellent front‑office and client support.
Qualifications
Candidate must be a recent 2.1 graduate with an investment‑related or economics degree and holds CISI Level 3 qualification, or is keen to work towards this qualification. Candidate must have an excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel with intermediate level of VBA programming, strong knowledge of statistical methods and how they can be applied to finance, a keen desire to build extensive knowledge of Wealth Management procedures and processes, an understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements, strong knowledge of portfolio implementation, and excellent organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to work ahead of deadlines and prioritise multiple tasks.
