Assistant Finance Manager – Financial Accounting

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an experienced finance professional to support the Financial Accounting and Capital Team. The role involves detailed reviews of financial procedures, system and ledger coding, preparing capital reporting and contributing to the modernization of the financial management function.

Responsibilities

• Support the Deputy Finance Manager in leading the Financial Accounting and Capital Team.
• Deliver high quality and timely financial, technical accounting and capital support to the wider finance team and operational managers.
• Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly capital reporting.
• Oversee all accounting for VAT and returns, balance‑sheet and control account reconciliations, capital accounting, working capital, cash management and the Better Lives Charity.
• Participate in inter‑NHS and Whole of Government agreements on balances.
• Review and maintain financial systems and controls, ensuring accuracy of all ledger and spreadsheet input.
• Support staff training and development within the Financial Accounting Team.

Experience

• Significant experience working within a financial environment.
• Co‐ordinating, planning and executing activities under challenging timetables.
• Reviewing, developing and implementing new finance systems and processes to streamline working practice, increase automation and remove duplication.
• Experience working within NHS finance.

Qualifications

• At least certificate level of a Professional Accountancy qualification (e.g., CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) or AAT qualified, or equivalent educational background.
• Diploma level of a Professional Accountancy qualification (e.g., CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
