Senior Credit Analyst

Salary: £44,900 to £54,870 per annum (plus extensive benefits)

Location: Leeds, Chester, Birmingham, Halifax, Edinburgh, Newport & Cardiff

Hours: 35 hours per week, with a hybrid working pattern (40% or two days in any of the above office hubs)

You will be part of a collaborative team delivering insight through analytics to manage risks associated with mortgage lending. Your work will help us make safer, more efficient credit decisions and support our commitment to sustainability and responsible lending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scope, define, and deliver analytical projects that support team objectives.
  • Use SAS or Excel to interrogate complex data sets, translating outputs into clear, actionable insights.
  • Interpret portfolio performance and risk metrics to inform strategy and operational decisions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the wider Risk team and first‑line business units.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior analysts, championing best practices and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in credit risk and change management, including familiarity with risk strategies and scorecards.
  • Strong numerate background; degree (or equivalent) in a numerate subject with advanced analytical technique knowledge.
  • Proficiency with analytical software such as SAS, and advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Logical, detail‑oriented analytical mindset capable of working quickly and accurately.
  • Effective communicator who can explain complex issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
  • Motivation to learn and develop on the job, with a willingness to take on new challenges.
