Job Overview
The post holder is responsible for providing financial management, support and advice, to designated divisions and directorates within the Trust. They will work closely with relevant directorate managers to ensure financial targets are achieved, including the production of accurate and timely budgets, monthly accounts and forecasts, investigation and advice on highly complex issues, and the provision of strategic financial and business planning advice. The post holder will also ensure that the Head of Finance and the Head of Financial Management are fully informed of the financial performance and plans of the designated Directorates.
Main Duties
- Support the Divisional Head of Finance to provide high quality business advice and support to a Division as directed by the Head of Financial Management
- Collate the numerical and statistical aspects of the directorate business plans, including providing advice and guidance to managers in order to agree staffing models and constraints that inform activity and financial planning
- Provide information and support to budget holders and the divisional management team, involving complex calculations, investigations into financial/activity-related issues, and occasional review of commercial-related issues to achieve demanding financial targets
- Establish relationships with senior management and directors within the organisation to enable regular and meaningful dialogue on issues, risks, and proposing mitigating actions
- Investigate queries from budget holders and managers relating to charges made to the financial ledger, payroll transactions, invoices and payments, etc.
- Ensure that the CIP programme for the division is embedded in the overall financial plan for the division and take responsibility for aspects of its delivery
