Job Description:

We are looking for a Band 7 Cancer Services Pharmacist to work with the Berkshire Cancer Centre and Clinical Haematology Team to deliver safe, timely and patient-centred pharmaceutical care across oncology and haematology.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, timely and patient-centred pharmaceutical care across oncology and haematology.
  • Work closely with Pharmacy Aseptic Services to prepare and supply chemotherapy and other high-risk medicines.
  • Support the training and development of rotational Band 6 pharmacists.
  • Provide clinical verification, safe and timely preparation and supply of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and aseptically prepared products under the supervision of the Senior Lead Pharmacist – Oncology and Haematology.
  • Provide professional and technical support in the preparation of SACT and maintenance of quality management systems in the Aseptic Dispensary.
  • Support the development and continual improvement of the clinical pharmacy service to Oncology and Haematology clinics.
  • Deputise for the Lead Pharmacist where appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A registered pharmacist with a genuine interest in cancer services and well‑developed clinical and technical skills.
  • Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team; committed to medicines optimisation, patient safety and continuous professional development.
  • Current registered Member of the GPhC.
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or UK recognised equivalent (from an accredited university registered with the GPhC).
  • Post‑graduate Clinical Certificate or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Independent prescribing qualification or working toward Member of the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (“BOPA”).
  • Member of Royal College of Pharmacy Leadership Training.
  • At least 2 years post‑registration relevant hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Recent clinical pharmacy/ward pharmacy experience.
  • Extensive patient contact in a clinical setting.
  • Clinical pharmacy experience in oncology/haematology.
  • Experience working in an aseptic services environment and handling aseptically dispensed chemotherapy products.
  • Risk and incident assessment and investigations experience.
  • Policy and procedure writing experience.
  • QA experience.
