Clinical Responsibilities
- Practice autonomously without direct supervision.
- Utilise advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients.
- Identify the need for, initiate, and where appropriate interpret relevant diagnostic investigations.
- Recognise the need for and initiate relevant specialist advice.
- Exhibit excellent non‑verbal and verbal communication skills with patients and carers.
- Make clear decisions with confidence and communicate them effectively.
- Maintain clinical records in line with current practice guidelines.
- Work within the parameters of your skills and knowledge, recognising limits to your practice.
- Maintain awareness of developments in clinical practice and optimise evidence‑based care.
- Work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team.
- Adhere to performance measures.
- Provide health promotion/accident prevention advice.
- Promote protection of children and vulnerable adults in accordance with local safeguarding procedures.
- Adhere to the Infection Prevention and Control policy.
- Prescribe medication within the limits of current extended non‑medical prescribing legislation.
- Discharge or refer patients as appropriate to internal or external clinical pathways.
- Order, store, administer, and dispose of medicines safely.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Take part in clinical audits and lead the audit cycle as required.
- Attend professional meetings and participate in team meetings.
- Support the implementation of policies and participate in working groups.
- Lead and participate in clinical audit cycles.
- Induct newly appointed staff.
- Supervise, delegate, and coordinate staff, using their abilities effectively.
- Participate in the appraisal process for yourself and others.
- Identify, report, and address poor performance issues.
- Diffuse challenging behaviour in a sensitive manner.
- Ensure efficient and effective use of material resources and supplies.
- Identify resource use problems and recommend corrective action.
Clinical Governance
- Participate in clinical governance requirements within the organisation.
- Practice with the parameters of company policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Assess and evaluate outcomes of own practice and service interventions.
- Provide mentorship, leadership, and training to other team members.
- Maintain Health and Safety policy and legislation compliance.
- Participate in research and development activities of DHU Health Care.
- Participate in the clinical supervision framework for health care professionals.
- Offer appropriate advice to health and social care professions on care practices and service development.
- Engage in ongoing individual professional development.
- Mentor and role‑model in the development of triage consultation and mentorship of junior staff and students.
- Complete mandatory training programmes for compliance.
Professional Duties
- Work within regulatory requirements, codes, and professional standards of the NMC/HCPC/GPhC.
- Maintain professional and clinical competence through continuing professional development.
- Act in a manner that promotes confidence and public trust, upholding the reputation of DHU Health Care CIC.

- Divisional Heads of Clinical Services.

- Clinical and managerial staff within participating Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG).
- Clinical staff in local primary and secondary care services.
- Other related services within the local health economy.
- Social Services and local intermediate Care Services.
- Registered Adult Nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Paramedic registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Independent non‑medical prescriber.
Qualifications
- Professional registration with NMC, HCPC, or GPhC.
- Independent prescriber (non‑medical prescribing certification).
- Postgraduate education: minimum of two Level 7 modules, one including assessment of clinical examination skills.
- Demonstrated experience in autonomous clinical decision making.
- Experience in consolidated telephone triage.
- Experience in one of the following: nurse‑led clinics, emergency care centres, out‑of‑hours facilities, or walk‑in centres.
- Consolidated independent prescribing experience.
- Evidence of using autonomous clinical assessment and physical examination skills.
- Broad and sound knowledge of complex and common primary care conditions in adults and children.
- Commitment to achieving a full MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, if desired.
