Clinical Psychologist – Caring for Children and Care Leavers (Band 7, NHS AfC)

Full‑time (37.5 hrs per week, 9‑5 Mon‑Fri), fixed term 12 months – maternity leave cover. Job ref 311‑HYM801‑26. Location: Stockport Central House, Stockport. Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 pa pro‑rata.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported with regular supervision from our Principal Clinical Psychologist, working alongside Therapeutic Social Workers and staff from CAMHS, and the broader Cared‑for‑Children’s Enhanced service. The team adopts a formulation‑driven, trauma‑informed, trauma‑responsive approach.

As part of the role you will provide consultations, formulations and reflective practice to support colleagues in understanding and responding to the emotional needs of care‑experienced young people, strengthening psychological thinking underpinning care planning and multi‑agency decision‑making.

Qualifications

  • HCPC registered clinical psychologist, or about to be registered.

Experience

  • CAMHS experience on placement or post‑qualification.
  • Clinical experience suitable for the CFC population.
  • Experience with CFC or care leavers.
