Eligibility and Application
Applicants must be on the GMC Register prior to taking up the post. Appointment as a Specialty Doctor or Specialist Grade depends on experience in Clinical Genetics and prior NHS practice or similar healthcare systems. Senior trainees in Clinical Genetics nearing completion are also eligible.
The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust supports career development, providing progression from Specialty Doctor to Specialist/Consultant level and structured support for candidates pursuing the Portfolio Pathway to Specialist Registration (CESR).
About the Service
The South West Clinical Genetics Service is a single, integrated regional service hosted by the Royal Devon. It provides consistent, high-quality clinical genetics care across the South West, with major hubs in Bristol and Exeter, supporting a population of over 4.4 million people.

Working Pattern & Benefits
Working pattern: 10 days per week (Monday‑Friday) with a daily rota for urgent advice and referrals shared across the team. No out‑of‑hours on‑call, with flexible working embedded in service culture.
