About the Manchester Vascular Centre
Manchester Vascular Centre is a 46‑bedded mixed‑sex ward providing acute in‑patient care for patients pre‑ and post‑vascular surgical procedures. The ward is part of the Cardiovascular (CVS) CSU at MRI and serves patients from across Greater Manchester, including South, North, Central Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Tameside and Macclesfield. It is open 24/7, admitting patients for emergency and elective procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
- Work closely with the multi‑disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process.
- Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for preregistration students.
- Take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
Clinical Expertise
Provide care for procedures including revascularisation of critical limb ischaemia, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair with EVAR, carotid surgery, and minor or major limb amputations. Develop knowledge of multiple specialities, with an emphasis on complex wound care, including topical negative pressure therapy and larval therapy, and advise other clinical areas.
