Responsibilities
- The collection and interpretation of descriptions of patient diagnoses and procedural events, and the classification of these descriptions using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) and the Office of Population Census and Surveys Classification (OPCS 4) across all inpatient care.
- Continued improvement of anatomy and physiology skills and medical terminology to enhance knowledge of the National clinical coding rules and conventions.
- Work with the Clinical Coding Manager/Deputy Clinical Coding Manager to implement day‑to‑day organisation of the clinical coding department workload to ensure targets are met and a high‑quality service is delivered.
- Mentor Clinical Coding Team Members.
- Validate coded data to ensure compliance with national standards.
