We operate globally, supporting projects located in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. We employ over 160 staff, most based in the UK and Denmark, with offices in Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Poland.
We are in search of an ambitious Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical department from September 2026. The primary work location will be in one of our UK offices, either in Edinburgh or London, with some travelling in Northern Europe and potential short‑ or long‑term assignments abroad.
Team
As part of the Geotechnical Site Assessment (GSA) Department within WT’s Site Characterisation Business Unit, you will work among a world‑class team delivering innovative, sustainable and optimised solutions that empower clients to achieve their renewable energy goals.
The team supports and develops offshore geotechnical data survey campaigns and laboratory testing, prepares specifications, reviews data, ensures high quality data delivery, interprets geotechnical data for design input parameters, designs offshore foundations, and engages in in‑situ structure interaction, scour design, and cable engineering.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct desk studies and site selection for offshore wind farms.
- Design and manage offshore geotechnical site investigation campaigns.
- Specify and process laboratory test results.
- Prepare geotechnical interpretive reports and design profiles.
- Support the development of 3D ground models.
- Engage in soil structure interaction and geotechnical foundation design, including 3D finite element analyses.
- Perform drivability and installation assessments.
- Contribute to R&D activities.
- Participate in the development of in‑house engineering software.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in civil engineering (e.g., MEng, MSc or equivalent).
- Interest and basic knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to see engineering problems within their wider context.
- Great collaborative problem‑solving skills.
- Proactivity and ability to work independently.
- Appetite to challenge the status‑quo and push boundaries.
- Excellent English and report‑writing capabilities.
Beneficial / Desirable Experience
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Matlab or Python).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous internship or placement experience in engineering.
