Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to support the maintenance and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and site infrastructure. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to breakdowns, assist with equipment upgrades and installations, and help ensure the safe, efficient operation of the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and site improvement projects.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering colleagues to ensure effective shift handovers and minimise downtime.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate progress with production teams.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations, engineering standards, and company procedures.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and equipment issues promptly.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and engineering best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills:

  • Completed engineering apprenticeship.
  • Experience with electrical installation and maintenance.
  • Mechanical fabrication and maintenance experience.
  • Electronic fault finding to component level.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and steam systems.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Installation qualification.
