Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Designer to provide high-quality electrical design and drafting services for our diverse portfolio of projects and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independent Execution: Work independently to complete demanding assignments on multiple small to medium-sized projects using advanced design theories, techniques, and practices.
  • Compliance & Standards: Act as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices for the development and application of project deliverables.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a team environment with minimal supervision while adhering strictly to company and industry standards.
  • Drafting Excellence: Perform moderate to complex drafting assignments requiring a deep working knowledge of established drafting techniques, standards, and software.
  • Design Oversight: Oversee the preparation of detailed design and engineering drawings from sketches, plans, or other specification data.
  • HV/LV Systems: Take full responsibility for the design and drafting of High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical installations.
  • Mentorship & Coordination: Direct the work of junior designers and coordinate work-sharing activities to ensure all drawings meet project specifications and requirements.
  • Client Reviews: Participate in design reviews with project stakeholders and advise on technical design, drafting issues, and compliance requirements.
  • Project Delivery: Demonstrate a proven track record of completing assigned work scopes within strict time and budget constraints.
  • Layouts & Calculations: Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details for facilities and equipment from reference drawings or catalogs. Perform dimensional and routine engineering calculations.
  • Site Visits: Travel to job sites to perform panel audits and walkdown raceway routings as required.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain, record, and file electrical discipline documents while working within the guidelines of the project’s Quality Assurance system.

Technical and Industry Experience

  • Experience: 8+ years of dedicated experience in electrical design.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • SmartPlant Tools: Experience with SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) and SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) is highly preferred.
  • 3D Modeling: Experience with SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), including participating in 3D model reviews. Knowledge of AVEVA E3D is a major plus.

Education & Qualifications

Required: A 2- or 3-year technical diploma/degree with discipline-specific training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and industry experience in electrical design and drafting.

Area of Specialization

  • Drawings & Diagrams: Detailed drawings for lighting, small power, and earthing systems; HV/LV single-line diagrams; wiring and control schematic diagrams; AC/DC distribution panels; and process area electrical equipment layouts.
  • Substations & Routing: Substation and switchyard layouts, cable tray layouts, above-grade and underground cable layouts, duct bank sizing/layouts, grounding plans, and lightning layouts.
  • Sizing & Calculations: Cable schedules, cable pulling calculations, cable tray sizing calculations, cable selection & sizing calculations, and lighting calculations using software such as AGI32.
