Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver preventative maintenance programs, overhauls, and planned shutdowns while managing budgets and minimising downtime.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns using diagnostic expertise to identify root causes and implement effective solutions quickly.
  • Manage and coordinate maintenance subcontractors, ensuring compliance with site procedures and quality requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain strict adherence to health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and permit‑to‑work systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, audit trails, and equipment histories using CMMS, plus manage spares inventory and stock control.
  • Manage time‑served engineering duties as required (apprenticeship/City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance).

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing/production background in medium to heavy engineering – processing plants, production facilities, or recycling operations.
  • Hydraulics expertise – hands‑on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic systems and components.
  • Mobile plant experience – working with conveyors, material‑handling systems, automated machinery, or production equipment.
  • Multi‑skilled capability (desirable) – background in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable) – occasional travel to other sites may be required.
