Role Overview
As a Civil Delivery Engineer covering either our North or South portfolio, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient management of civil assets across our portfolio of onshore wind farms, solar and battery sites. You’ll provide technical leadership across maintenance, asset integrity, refurbishment and life extension activities while managing civil engineering risks, delivering projects and working closely with operational teams, contractors and stakeholders to maximise asset performance throughout the asset lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead the safe and effective management of civil assets across onshore wind, solar and battery sites, ensuring maintenance, defect resolution and engineering activities are delivered in line with health, safety and environmental legislation and industry best practice.
- Manage the integrity of civil infrastructure, including wind turbine foundations and associated assets, identifying design risks, carrying out technical investigations and implementing proportionate mitigation measures that support safe and reliable operation.
- Deliver civil engineering projects from specification through to completion, including contractor and contract management, refurbishment, repair, replacement, decommissioning and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring quality, safety and value for money.
- Provide technical support to operational teams by responding to reactive issues, monitoring asset health, developing proactive maintenance strategies and driving innovative engineering solutions that improve safety, reliability and operational performance.
- Develop and manage maintenance and project budgets, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, communicate technical and safety improvements across the business, and support long‑term planning for asset life extension, repowering and decommissioning.
Qualifications
This role would suit a Civil Engineer/Graduateor Technician with equivalent practical experience operating assets / project delivery, who are keen to develop within a renewable’s business and ultimately play a key role in the planning, supervision through construction and commissioning of significant operation & maintenance works.
- A degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline, or significant equivalent experience in a similar engineering role within infrastructure, construction, utilities or renewable energy.
- Experience managing civil engineering assets, maintenance programmes, engineering projects and contractors, with a strong understanding of asset integrity, contract management and project delivery.
- Knowledge of UK and Irish construction health and safety legislation, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, with the ability to undertake technical, safety and environmental risk assessments working sometimes at height and in restricted spaces.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across operational teams, contractors, suppliers and external partners while influencing technical decisions at all levels.
- A proactive and innovative approach to engineering, with excellent organisational skills, the ability to work independently and remotely, and experience managing budgets, identifying continuous improvement opportunities and delivering operational outcomes.
Additional Requirements
While based in Scotland, the role will also involve occasional travel to other remote operational sites across the country (Shetland & Orkney Islands) UK & Ireland. Occasional overnight stays will be expected as part of this role so a full and valid driving licence will be essential.
