Job Purpose
The Manufacturing Manager (Operations Manager Designate) is responsible for leading the manufacturing function to deliver operational excellence, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance. The role will provide strategic and operational leadership to production teams while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
As Deputy to the General Manager, the post holder will support the overall management of the site and assume responsibility for site operations in the GM’s absence. This role is designed to develop into an Operations Manager position and will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the manufacturing function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the manufacturing operation to achieve production, quality, safety, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to Shift Production Managers, creating a high-performing and accountable culture.
- Act as Deputy to the General Manager, providing operational leadership and decision-making when required.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise performance.
- Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions where necessary to improve operational performance.
- Develop and implement robust manufacturing processes that support business growth and operational excellence.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and customer service.
- Champion employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning within the manufacturing team.
- Support the planning and delivery of operational improvement and capital investment projects.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, food safety, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing operation.

- Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing environment (preferable food manufacturing).
- Strong people management and team development skills.
- Demonstrable experience in process management and operational performance improvement.
- Lean Manufacturing expertise with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to lead through change while maintaining employee engagement.
