Control System Engineer
We are looking for a Control System Engineer to join our growing team working on flagship aero‑engine programmes. In this role you will own control system functions and interfaces, handling full life‑cycle development from analysis and design through verification and delivery to customers.
Key aspects of the role include collaboration with a global engineering community, continuous knowledge exchange, and a focus on technical outcomes that meet industry safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop electronic control system requirements, design, and verification work products for safety‑critical applications as per ARP4754 and DO‑178B/C guidance.
- Perform sub‑system requirement and interface definition, requirements allocation, and traceability.
- Review engineering work products for technical documentation, quality, completeness, and compliance with standards.
- Prepare design review materials and participate in design review gates.
- Support the full systems/software development life‑cycle.
- Exchange technical ideas and information in a concise and logical manner.
- Promote, encourage, and support continuous improvement within the project assignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Avionics, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of product design and development experience in systems and software engineering.
- Knowledge and experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and/or Model Based Software Development (MBSD).
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Proficiency with requirement development tools (e.g., Doors/Capella), design tools (MATLAB/Simulink), and configuration & change management tools (Integrity, Azure DevOps, Polaron).
- Capability to interpret test results and provide informed conclusions, including understanding of measurement uncertainty.
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to assess the required level of analysis.
- Eligibility to work in the U.K. as a U.K. citizen or with appropriate work rights.
Travel
Travel to the customer site in Derby or Birmingham may be required, subject to project design review and scheduling.
