Role Description

The Multi Skilled Engineering Apprentice will work full time on‑site at Origin Peptides’ facility in Linlithgow, supporting the development, operation, and maintenance of peptide production equipment and processes. Day‑to‑day tasks include assisting with the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical and manufacturing systems, monitoring process performance, and recording technical data. The apprentice will support small engineering projects, participate in continuous improvement activities, and follow established safety and quality procedures. The role also involves collaborating with engineers and operations staff, contributing to problem‑solving discussions, and learning to apply engineering principles in a biotech manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills, including problem‑solving, data interpretation, and attention to detail in technical tasks.
  • Candidates should possess foundational Project Management skills, such as organising tasks, meeting deadlines, and supporting small‑scale engineering projects.
  • Candidates should possess an interest or basic knowledge in Manufacturing Engineering, including familiarity with production processes, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Candidates should possess an interest or basic knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, including understanding mechanical systems, tools, and maintenance principles.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include a relevant technical or engineering qualification (or working towards one), willingness to learn in a fast‑paced biotech environment, good numerical skills, and commitment to safe working practices.
