Role Overview
A Local Authority in the South West are seeking a skilled HR Consultant with a specialist focus on Job Evaluation to join their Workforce and Change team on a permanent basis.
Position: HR Consultant (Job Evaluation Focus)
Salary: £42,839 pa
Location: Mostly remote, 1 day per week on site
Contract: Permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support job evaluation activity, ensuring all roles are assessed fairly, consistently, and in line with established frameworks
- Advise managers on role design, grading outcomes, and formal job evaluation processes
- Utilise role and workforce data to inform pay, grading, and structural organisational decisions
- Support the maintenance and development of job evaluation frameworks and documentation
- Use role and workforce data to inform pay, grading and organisational decisions
- Autonomously manage a wide-ranging employee relations caseload, including absence management, disciplinaries, grievances, restructures, and TUPE transfers
Requirements
- Proven experience within a local government environment is required for this role
- Chartered Member of the CIPD, or equivalent demonstrable experience with a commitment to achieving Chartered status
- Strong background in job evaluation frameworks such as GLPC, NJC or Hay alongside a solid track record of independently managing complex employee relations casework
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the comfort to challenge assumptions constructively
