Ipswich Borough Council is looking for a Fire Safety Manager. The Maintenance and Contracts service spends roughly £25 million annually repairing, maintaining and improving a retained housing stock of approximately 7,800 properties and 15 sheltered schemes to our local “Ipswich Standard”. The Council provides a single seamless service that manages every aspect of asset management for this stock, from initial design to finalising works on site with directly employed trade teams.
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with all aspects of Fire Safety across the Council’s Housing stock.
- Maintain regulatory standards relating to Fire Legislation, including ongoing safety checks, testing, inspection and maintenance.
- Confirm that all relevant Housing Regulation Authority (HRA) assets are fully maintained in line with the newly adopted fire safety strategies.
- Provide fire engineering advice and expertise to support major fire safety improvement contracts.
- Oversee the work of a Fire Safety Surveyor and support their professional development.
Qualifications
- Relevant formal qualifications in fire safety or equivalent.
- Significant experience in a similar role within the housing or public sector.
- A proven track record of managing fire safety compliance and improvement projects.
