Overview

A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. The role involves working on multiple cross-disciplinary projects within the context of sustainable and resilient infrastructure, and the successful candidate will join a large dynamic team of researchers tackling diverse challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Drive, plan and conduct innovative research within own area of expertise as well as broader areas in collaboration with others
  • Consolidate, integrate, produce and disseminate research outputs from multiple projects
  • Develop new and strategic research initiatives and opportunities
  • Develop research training activities, collaborating with academic and industry partners, and lead and manage multiple research activities

Qualifications

  • Must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline
  • Excellent leadership, management, communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team and engage with industry partners
  • Appointment at Research Associate level depends on having a PhD; those who have submitted but not yet received will be appointed at Research Assistant level, amended upon PhD award

Salary

  • Research Assistant: £33,002 – £35,608
  • Research Associate: £37,694 – £46,049
  • Fixed‑term: 12 months in the first instance
