Associate Scientist – Antibody Conjugation
The Associate Scientist is responsible for performing antibody conjugation to various labels and subsequent purification using established protocols, in alignment with budget constraints and customer demand. This position reports to the Principal Scientist and is part of the Conjugation Development Platform Team within Research and Development, located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on-site role.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
- Perform antibody conjugations using advanced and emerging technologies and assess product quality pre- and post-conjugation using analytical techniques such as HPLC, FPLC (AKTA), and spectroscopy.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of novel conjugation technologies and antibody labelling reagents, supporting cross‑functional collaboration and ensuring effective communication across R&D downstream teams through regular technical updates.
- Contribute to the writing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), and support the cross‑training of colleagues.
- Transfer technology to the manufacturing team by sharing newly developed and validated conjugation methodologies.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental data using BMRs, laboratory notebooks, risk assessments and Oracle ERP, ensuring adherence to SOPs and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
- PhD in a scientific discipline or equivalent professional experience. Experience of working in an industrial setting, e.g. through a work placement, is beneficial but not essential.
- Previous experience in antibody conjugation, QC of conjugates, and assay development.
- Hands‑on experience in proteins and conjugates’ purification methods (SEC, IEX, HIC).
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time.
- Excellent organisational skills to meet strict deadlines and attention to details.
- Self‑motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
