Job Overview

Product Safety & Compliance Specialist – Ecommerce & Consumer Products – Location: York (On-site) – Job Type: Full-time – Salary: £30,000 – £35,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of product compliance across UK and EU markets.
  • Interpret and apply relevant regulations, including UKCA/CE marking requirements, GPSR, EMC, LVD, RoHS, REACH.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation and declarations of conformity.
  • Assess supplier documentation and laboratory test reports, identify gaps and recommend further testing where required.
  • Ensure all labelling, safety warnings, and user instructions meet regulatory standards.
  • Liaise directly with suppliers to obtain and validate compliance documentation.
  • Work cross‑functionally with Buying and Product teams to embed compliance early in the product lifecycle.
  • Support responses to regulatory and marketplace compliance enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in product compliance, product safety, quality assurance, or regulatory affairs within consumer goods or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of UKCA and CE marking requirements.
  • Proven experience working with technical files and declarations of conformity.
  • Experience reviewing supplier documentation and test reports and identifying compliance risks.
  • Confidence in engaging with and challenging suppliers when required.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple product categories and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.

Working Arrangements

Full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Flexible start times between 08:00 – 09:30 with corresponding finish times. Based on‑site in York (5 days per week). Personal transport is essential.
