Location: North Kesteven
Job Description:

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced, proactive and highly organised Office Manager to lead the Mayor’s Office at the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of a new and ambitious organisation, supporting the Mayor in delivering priorities that make a real difference to residents, businesses and communities across Greater Lincolnshire. No two days will be the same. From managing complex stakeholder relationships and supporting major events to providing strategic oversight of the Mayor’s diary, communications and workload, you’ll be at the heart of some of the most important conversations and decisions taking place across Greater Lincolnshire.

Based in Lincoln, this role is primarily office‑based, reflecting the collaborative and fast‑paced nature of the Mayor’s Office. Occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire and beyond will also be required.

As Mayor’s Office Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Mayor’s Office. You will oversee and coordinate the Mayor’s diary, communications and casework, acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders and helping to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. You will lead a small, dedicated team of two Support Officers, working closely with communications colleagues and the Corporate Leadership Team to provide a professional, responsive and high‑quality support service to the Mayor.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Act as the primary gateway for the Mayor’s diary, correspondence, communications and casework, ensuring priorities are managed effectively.
  • Provide strategic oversight and triage of the Mayor’s inbox, workload and incoming requests.
  • Lead and support a team of Support Officers to deliver a professional, efficient and responsive service.
  • Oversee the handling of casework, policy enquiries and correspondence from residents, businesses, partners and stakeholders.
  • Support the planning and delivery of mayoral events, roundtables, visits and summits, ensuring they are well organised and impactful.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders across government, business, the voluntary sector and local communities.
  • Work collaboratively across the Authority to ensure the Mayor is fully briefed and supported in their engagements and decision‑making.
  • Represent the Mayor’s Office and the Authority professionally when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of managing and delivering executive support services in a complex organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience of managing and developing a small team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of diary management, casework coordination and handling high volumes of correspondence.
  • Strong political awareness and an understanding of local and national government.
  • Experience of organising events, stakeholder engagements and public‑facing activities.
  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Shorthand or strong note‑taking skills would be advantageous.

Visa and Work Eligibility

These roles are not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. The Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority does not currently hold a Home Office sponsor licence. Applicants must therefore have the existing right to work in the UK at the time of application and for the duration of employment.

Values and Transformation

The postholder is expected to uphold GLCCA’s values and contribute to organisational transformation. Safeguarding awareness is essential; all employees must follow GLCCA’s safeguarding policies when working with vulnerable individuals.

Additional Information

We’re looking for an experienced, organised and people‑focused professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys building relationships with a wide range of people. You will have experience of leading a high‑performing support function at a senior level, alongside excellent organisational, communication and people management skills. You will be comfortable working with senior leaders, managing sensitive information and balancing multiple priorities. This is a politically sensitive post.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape and support a newly established organisation at an exciting stage of its development. You’ll join a passionate and supportive team that is committed to making a positive difference for residents, businesses and communities across Greater Lincolnshire. This role offers a unique blend of leadership, variety and influence, giving you the chance to work closely with the Mayor and senior stakeholders while contributing to the success of the region.

If you’re looking for a rewarding role where you can make an impact, lead a dedicated team and play a key part in supporting local leadership, we’d love to hear from you.
