Role Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head Chef to support the first‑class food service at our care home. The main purpose of the Head Chef’s role is to organise and control the efficient and economic production of quality food within the budget, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations.
Food preparation will be expected to be of a very high standard and will include preparing, cooking and serving hot and cold meals as required, and providing for special dietary requirements including Kosher, Halal, vegan and vegetarian cuisine.
Responsibilities
- Recruit kitchen team members
- Audit and ensure the kitchen adheres to EHO regulations
- Follow the IDDSI framework and ensure all dietary requirements are met
- Demonstrate good leadership skills
- Produce a 4‑week kitchen rota in a timely manner
- Assist with training of the kitchen team
- Develop menus using sustainable produce
- Place orders
- Perform monthly stock take
- Monitor and control food cost within budgeted guidelines
- Oversee the food safety management system
Requirements
- City & Guilds Level 1 & 2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards)
- Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate
- Previous supervisory experience
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Team player
