Overview
A great opportunity has arisen within the Loans Lab for a Senior Software Engineer. Working in a strong collaborative way to drive efforts to create, build, support and improve our backend software, also working closely with the product and engineering teams with lots of exciting new challenges. As a core contributor you will ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in accordance with the engineering transformation strategy.
Responsibilities
• Work in a cross‑disciplinary team to design, build and test backend microservices and RESTful APIs.• Choose appropriate tooling, libraries and programming languages to solve problems.• Deliver customer‑focused software solutions and keep code well‑tested and robust.• Coach other engineers to help them grow and reach their potential.• Communicate effectively to exchange ideas and explain concepts to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience producing high‑quality, well‑tested, robust code.
- Strong experience in Java17+ and Spring Framework for development.
- Proficient in microservice development using SpringBoot.
- Familiarity with containerised services (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably GCP.
- Strong understanding of database design.
- Experience creating tests and working with CI/CD pipelines to prove maintainability.
- Full software development lifecycle experience, including end‑to‑end delivery.
- Experience with agile development methods and tooling such as Kanban, Jira and Confluence.
- Experience working as part of an agile team.
- Additional experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, DevOps tooling like Harness, or Quarkus framework is a plus.
