We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer, to be based out of Dalton, Lostock or Mansfield offices.

Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.

The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of sectors. Each of our sites has its own strong reputation in the market and together cover a wider geographical area, including Europe. They continue to set the bar high in their highly complex market!

Vacancy Details

The purpose of this role is to deliver code-compliant, high-quality structural steelwork solutions that meet client requirements, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

  • Have a sound understanding of engineering principles
  • Be able to work with external clients and internal stakeholders to produce practical design solutions
  • Carry out structural analysis and design to produce calculations for building regulations submission
  • Produce detailed design sketches to convey to draughtsperson with due regard to buildability and health & safety
  • Liaise with internal and external design teams to ensure that the design brief is clear, and a compliant design is produced
  • Assess, design and clearly define temporary works requirements
  • Ensure compliance with the company operating procedures, quality assurance, statutory safety legislation and our contractual responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for all technical aspects of a project and provide assistance to junior engineers

Required Skills And Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of structural steelwork design including complex solutions and temporary works solutions
  • Experience in Design Management
  • A good understanding of buildability issues on major construction sites as well as in the fabrication shop

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or Masters Degree in civil / structural engineering
  • Preferably Chartered Structural Engineer MIStructE
