Head of Maintenance

About the Role

As a Head of Maintenance at a Barchester care home, you will ensure the environment is clean, well‑maintained, and welcoming for residents and staff. The role offers a variety of tasks in the building, gardens, and grounds – from fixing a leaky tap to planting new bulbs. You will work independently and lead a team, support the General Manager with annual budget planning, and liaise with contractors for projects beyond the team’s scope.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience in property maintenance
• At least one trade skill
• Full UK driving licence
• IT literacy
• GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Reliable and flexible working hours

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facilities and grounds
• Lead and manage the maintenance team
• Support budget planning and financial oversight
• Coordinate with contractors for specialized work
• Ensure all work is carried out with sensitivity to resident wellbeing
