Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Speciality Glaucoma Doctor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will support our NHS medical glaucoma service by providing both clinical and surgical assistance. This role requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma and other ocular conditions.
- Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), Volk lens evaluations, corneal thickness measurement (CCT) and gonioscopy.
- Provide management plans for existing glaucoma referrals.
- Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care to patients.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.
Qualifications
- Experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases, and ability to work independently.
- UK NHS glaucoma clinic experience.
- Gonioscopy experience.
- SLT laser experience.
- Medical degree from a recognised university.
- Valid GMC registration with a licence to practice in the UK.
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Employment Details
This is a part‑time role requiring 2 days per week (19 hours per week) with a part‑time salary of £48,133.33 – £50,666.66 per year.
