Overview

Join Dunnock View as an Associate Specialist, delivering treatment to men and women with mental health needs in a friendly, committed, acute inpatient service. You will work under the support of a Consultant Psychiatrist and Lead Consultant Psychiatrist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and support the consultant in assessing patients referred to the service.
  • Complete regular mental state reviews and monitor medication side effects.
  • Ensure high‑quality first‑line medical care for inpatients.
  • Liaise effectively with external professionals, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide written and oral evidence for Hospital Managers and Tribunal hearings.
  • Work toward safe discharges and ensure adequate handover to out‑of‑hours colleagues.
  • Seek collateral history from other professionals and family members.
  • Prepare discharge letters, reports, and S62 forms.
  • Prepare First‑tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearing reports under supervision.
  • Attend CPA meetings to review patient care with NHS England case managers and community care coordinators.
  • Provide oral evidence at hearings under the consultant’s supervision (experience dependent).
  • Contribute to service development through Clinical Governance activities, audits, research, and teaching.
  • Provide prospective cover to other specialty doctors when they are on leave.
  • Liaise with GP and practice nurse regarding patients’ physical healthcare.

Qualifications

  • Full GMC registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in psychiatry and experience working in psychiatry within multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Good standing for CPD with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and appraisal/RITA process within the last year.
  • Experience as a doctor within a similar environment.
  • MRCPsych (desirable).
  • Section 12(2) approval (desirable).
  • AC status (desirable).
