Overview

Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford. Applications are invited for a Clinical Trials Data, Programming and IT lead to hold a leadership role in the Primary Care Clinical Trials Unit. This role leads the strategic development of clinical trial data and technology, overseeing data governance, regulatory compliance, and the modernisation of digital systems. You will drive efficiency through standardised processes, strengthen collaboration with data science groups, and enhance data lifecycle management, including archiving and long-term accessibility. The post holder will champion innovation—particularly AI adoption—while upgrading IT infrastructure, managing system validation and security, and reducing operational risk. You will lead high-performing technical teams, support cost-effective resource planning, and bring extensive experience in clinical data science, regulatory frameworks, database systems, and clinical trial operations. The successful applicant will have experience of managing a team of professionals within a complex, technical organisation to develop technical solutions and systems to deliver projects on time and within budget. You will have excellent teamwork and communication capabilities, possess sound judgement, organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritise work under pressure and drive improvement and change particularly in clinical trials data and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of clinical trial data and technology, including data governance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience in clinical data science, regulatory frameworks, database systems, and clinical trial operations.
  • Experience managing a team of professionals within a complex, technical organisation to deliver technical solutions and systems.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, sound judgment, and excellent organisational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise work under pressure and drive continuous improvement and change in clinical trials data and technology.
