Position Overview

Operational Security Manager – UK Business. The role is based in Ipswich, London or Manchester and requires on‑site presence during working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of security professionals and managers within the Security Operations Team.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder/customer relationships, prioritising a customer‑first approach.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the business unit’s physical estate, including security governance, policy and processes, visitor management, accreditation, assurance and audit, supplier management and maintenance, access control management, and incident & investigations management.
  • Brief and govern the business unit on security awareness and compliance topics.
  • Implement plans and budgets for monitoring, maintaining and improving the integrity of the physical estate.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Typically qualified to degree level, or equivalent professional experience and/or recognised qualifications.
  • Member of a Security Industry Professional Body (e.g., Institute of Information Security – CIISEC).
  • Must hold and maintain DV Clearance – mandatory.
  • Experience with Government security frameworks and accreditations.
  • Experienced leadership and operational experience within industry – mandatory.
  • Expert or Advanced level skills in Security Governance, Security Operations, Information Risk Management, Physical Security Strategy, Team Management, and Thought Leadership.
  • Stakeholder Management experience at all levels of organisational hierarchies.

Requirements

DV (Developed Vetting) level security clearance is required. Candidates must have lived in the UK for 10+ years to qualify for clearance. An allowance of £5,000 per annum may be payable while the candidate holds DV clearance and continues to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance.

The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday, and must be based on site during working hours.
