Senior Administrator – Adult Learning Disabilities
This role supports the General Manager and Leadership team in providing high‑quality, confidential administrative and secretarial services. The position is integral to the operation of the Adult Learning Disabilities services throughout the Durham, Tees Valley area, and requires regular travel across the speciality.
Responsibilities
- Provide confidential administrative and secretarial support to the General Manager and Leadership team.
- Coordinate and support meetings, including diary management, agenda and paper preparation, and minute taking.
- Manage sensitive and complex information in accordance with information governance and confidentiality requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, prioritising workload using good judgement and initiative.
- Assist with events, presentations, travel and general office administration to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Implement and maintain systems and processes within the administration team.
- Lead, supervise and train staff on administrative procedures to facilitate effective service delivery.
- Extract data and prepare reports, and participate in service and quality improvement initiatives.
- Organise and meet deadlines through effective delegation where necessary, and problem‑solve to develop alternative procedures.
- Travel independently across the Durham and Tees Valley area in accordance with Trust policies and service needs.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in an administrative environment, including digital audio typing, Microsoft Office, diary management, filing systems and information presentation.
- Advanced typing skills with accurate and efficient data entry.
- Experience coordinating meetings and associated administrative duties.
- Ability to extract data and prepare reports.
- Participation in service and quality improvement initiatives.
- BTEC Diploma / Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent (e.g., NVQ in Business Administration / RSA Level 3) and willingness to work towards Level 5 within an agreed timescale.
- IT qualification (e.g., ECDL, RSA, NVQ in Business Administration) or equivalent work experience.
- Functional skills in literacy and numeracy at Level 2 or O Level (Grade C and above) / GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4–9).
- Understanding of data protection and service‑user / staff confidentiality procedures.
- Sound knowledge of quality improvement initiatives.
Additional Information
The role requires traveling across the professional area; therefore, remote working arrangements are not suitable. The position is subject to the standard NHS Trust policies and guidelines.
