CPS delivers design, installation, monitoring, and maintenance of security and fire systems, supported 24/7 by our NSI Gold Approved Alarm Receiving Centre based in‑house at our North Wales headquarters.

Location: North Birmingham / Leicester / Stafford

Role Description

We’re looking for a skilled Fire & Security Service Engineer (also known as a Fire and Intruder Alarm Engineer or Electronic Security Systems Engineer) to join our growing team. The role involves installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of fire alarms, CCTV (IP and analogue), intruder alarms, and access control systems. The field‑based position includes regular system checks, commissioning, fault‑finding, and supporting 24/7 monitoring operations, as well as responding to emergency call‑outs on a rota basis.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience) + overtime, travel, and on‑call allowance
  • Earning potential: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum

  • 20 days annual leave + bank holidays (with additional leave after 3 years’ service)

  • Working hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm + travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance, servicing, and fault‑finding on electronic fire and security systems
  • Install and commission new fire alarm, CCTV, intruder alarm, and access control systems
  • Respond to reactive call‑outs and complete remedial works efficiently
  • Ensure systems comply with relevant British Standards (BS EN) and industry regulations
  • Provide exceptional customer service and clear communication at all times
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a supportive, growing team
  • Participate in the on‑call rota (currently 1 week in 6)

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in servicing and maintaining security/intruder alarm systems (e.g., Galaxy, Texecom, Scantronic)
  • Experience with CCTV systems – analogue and IP
  • Experience with fire alarm systems (e.g., Advanced, Kentec, Ziton, Menvier, C‑Tec)
  • Experience with access control systems (e.g., Paxton)
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, and fault diagnosis
  • Strong electrical/electronic engineering background
  • Good understanding of IP networking and system integration desirable
  • Computer literate – use of PDAs and digital reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Willingness to undergo security screening in line with industry standards

Desirable Certifications & Qualifications

  • FIA or BAFE training/certification
  • ECS/CSCS card
  • Manufacturer training on Galaxy, Texecom, Paxton, or Advanced systems
  • Experience with BS5839 / BSEN50131 compliant systems
