Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is fundamental to our operations – they keep vital machinery running at all times. As an RME Technician, you’ll maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding Health and Safety best practices. You’ll help keep your colleagues safe and prevent machine downtime. RME Technicians boost availability and quality of equipment and work to enhance the operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of site equipment
- Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
- Use the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness
- Uphold all health and safety policies and practices
- Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices
- Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across a range of EU sites
A Day in the Life
Our RME Technicians are based on-site, so they can respond quickly to any machinery issues. You’ll carry out a range of planned preventive maintenance to our sites’ equipment to make sure it’s working safely. As an RME Technician, you’ll also respond promptly to breakdowns, investigate, implement solutions as quickly as possible, and make suggestions for long-term improvements.
Working alongside senior colleagues, you’ll undertake day‑to‑day maintenance tasks and liaise with contractors if external expertise is required. You’ll work various shifts to support sites around the clock – helping Amazon deliver at its speed.

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) partners with third‑party distribution businesses to handle last‑mile delivery duties. Our team uses creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of products into customers’ hands. We strive for a smooth delivery experience and roll out global solutions for new concepts such as Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon Restaurants.
We handle two main areas: in‑house associates process millions of products for dispatch to delivery teams, while on‑road associates work with Amazon Flex, a network of delivery contractors. We continually raise the bar for customer experience with innovative services and a portfolio of cutting‑edge vehicles, including electric vehicles, to reduce our carbon footprint.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics (or completed a 4‑year UK certified apprenticeship)
- Work a flexible schedule/shift including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Experience in English-language communication skills, written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical
- Experience with material handling equipment safety standards according to OEM and safety standards
- Experience with robotic operation and maintenance
- Experience with condition‑based monitoring
- Experience working with print‑and‑apply machines
- Experience in fault‑finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
