The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is fundamental to our operations – they keep vital machinery running at all times. As an RME Technician you will maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding Health and Safety best practices to keep your colleagues safe and prevent machine downtime. You’ll boost the availability and quality of our equipment and help enhance the operational environment.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of site equipment
  • Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
  • Use the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness
  • Uphold all health and safety policies and practices
  • Support the development and progression of on‑site apprentices
  • Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across a range of EU sites

A Day in the Life

You are based on‑site, responding quickly to any machinery issues. You will carry out planned preventative maintenance on site equipment, promptly investigate and resolve breakdowns, and implement solutions as quickly as possible. You will also suggest long‑term improvements, collaborate with senior colleagues, liaise with contractors when external expertise is needed, and work a range of shifts to support our sites around the clock.

About the Team

The RME team keeps our equipment performing at its best. We are a technically minded, collaborative group guided by experienced leaders who maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment across our global network of fulfilment centres. From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing general site maintenance and repairing key distribution equipment, we handle most aspects of Amazon’s technical side while ensuring building compliance and maximum efficiency. There are extensive opportunities for progression within the RME team and across Amazon.

Qualifications – Basic

  • NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 / IVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 / EAL Level 3 specialised in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics
  • Four‑year UK certified apprenticeship
  • Flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, or facilities management
  • Experience in oral and written communication
  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards and OEM safety requirements
  • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance
  • Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and diagnostics on MHE and automated conveyor systems
  • Experience in condition‑based monitoring
  • Experience working with print and apply machines
