Job Description:

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive Haematological Histopathology service within a multidisciplinary team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Perform or supervise cut‑ups, microscopy, and other diagnostic techniques.

Report cases and support clinical meetings and case discussions.

Provide support in alternative specialty pathology where required and participate in additional programmed activities.

Adopt new diagnostic techniques and undertake training in digital pathology where necessary.

Qualifications

  • FRCPath or equivalent.
  • UK‑trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Non‑UK‑trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to UK CCT, full and specialist registration, a licence to practice, or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Specialist training in Haematological pathology.
  • Independent reporting of complex Haematological cases.
  • Evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level and to manage complex clinical problems.
  • Ability to lead and support the leadership of others.
  • Effective administrative and time‑management skills.
  • Training in clinical management and understanding of NHS pathology management roles.
  • Willingness to engage with and participate in management.
  • Evidence of ability to work in a clinical team at the consultant level in a teaching hospital.
  • Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork.
  • Willingness to share cases and seek second opinions appropriately.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of formal and informal contributions to teaching and training.
  • Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, clinical risk management, and clinical audit activities.
  • Management qualification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex situations to professionals and non‑professionals.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Educational qualification (degree level).
  • Peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Research grants.
