Role Summary
Deputy Shift Manager – The role demands dedication and professionalism. You will support the shift manager in managing the shift team and providing cover for manager absence. This position is an entry point to a management career. You will maintain, repair, and support equipment as per Dematic scope on the customer’s site to meet KPI targets, ensuring health and safety and quality compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support the shift manager in managing the shift team and cover manager absence
- Maintain, repair and support equipment within the agreed scope of contract on the Customer’s site
- Ensure delivery to Dematic and the Customer’s expectations, achieving KPI targets at all times
- Undertake AMHE equipment servicing in accordance with quality standards and time schedules
- Perform scheduled repairs according to manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices
- Diagnose Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / PLC / PC faults and subsequent repairs
- Prioritise system faults and ensure quality of output at all times
- Record all work undertaken accurately
- Involve in continuous improvement and enhancement opportunities
- Maintain product flow at all times and keep on‑site spares to optimum levels
- Represent the company professionally and maintain customer relations
- Adhere to the Quality processes and procedures set out by the company
Qualifications
- ONC in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- IOSH working safely (desirable)
- Experience managing a team (desirable)
- Foundation qualifications in people management (desirable)
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
- Working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic technical manuals & drawings
- Basic understanding of control systems and problem solving techniques
- Basic understanding of PLC equipment
- Working at height experience and willingness
- Previous experience with various conveyor systems
- Good level of PC literacy
- Understanding of pre‑preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Working knowledge of FEM and BS standards governing the automated warehouse industry
