The Deputy Course Manager will assist in the day‑to‑day running of the greenkeeping operation, oversee the preparation and maintenance of all grass areas, bunkers, greens and tees, and lead the team in the Course Manager’s absence. Outstanding leadership, communication and teamwork are essential.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of NVQ level 2/3 in sports turf management (or equivalent)
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates (desirable)
- At least 5 years’ experience in the industry
- Good understanding of health and safety
- Ability to lead and motivate others
- Attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Flexible, organised, hands‑on approach
- Chainsaw licence CS30/CS31 (desirable)
- Valid driving licence
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the smooth and efficient running of the greenkeeping operation
- Maintain the golf course and grounds to the highest standards all year round, considering seasonal changes, weather extremes, growth patterns, disease risks, weed control and presentation standards
- Prepare the course for play and undertake maintenance and project/redevelopment works
- Supervise team members, ensuring tasks are carried out, procedures are followed, and provide guidance, motivation and support
- Provide continuous training for staff
