About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Plant Manager to join our Ground Engineering team working on the Sizewell C project in Leiston, Suffolk. Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low‑carbon electricity.
Accountabilities
- Support the Plant Manager in managing plant operations across multiple GSA geotechnical sites;
- Coordinate with site teams to understand plant requirements and ensure timely provision of plant and equipment;
- Liaise with internal plant teams and approved external suppliers to arrange plant delivery, collection and servicing;
- Monitor plant utilisation and availability to optimise resource allocation;
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of plant movements, inspections, and compliance documentation;
- Support the planning and scheduling of plant resources in line with project milestones;
- Ensure all plant operations comply with relevant safety, environmental, and operational standards;
- Contribute to the development and implementation of plant-related procedures and best practices;
- Assist in resolving plant hire related issues on site, escalating to the Plant Manager as needed;
- Promote cost-effective plant usage and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements;
- Collaborate with logistics, procurement, and construction teams to align plant provision with project needs;
- Support audits and inspections by maintaining accessible and accurate plant documentation with a strong understanding of CPA contract terms and best practices.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in plant coordination or site logistics within construction or infrastructure projects;
- A strong understanding of geotechnical and piling operations;
- Excellent organisational and communication skills;
- Familiarity with CPA contract terms and plant hire procedures;
- Ability to work collaboratively with site teams, suppliers, and internal departments;
- Strong computer skills – focused on Excel/Word/PowerPoint and ideally conversant with other software such as MS Project, Insphire or MCA;
- Knowledge of safety and compliance standards related to plant operations;
- Familiarity with GDPR and data protection best practices.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working within a multi‑company alliance or joint venture;
- Familiarity with piling‑specific training and induction needs;
- Knowledge of CSCS, CPCS, NPORS, and other construction certification schemes;
- Qualification in Business Administration, HR, or Learning & Development.
