Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-focused and high-quality clerical support to the Respiratory Diagnostic Department.
- Ensure data quality is the highest priority by accurately recording, filing and tracking all notes, referrals and reports.
- Schedule appointments in accordance with clinical need and manage a waiting list for patients awaiting investigations.
- Accommodate patients who require additional appointments and arrange extra clinics to reduce waiting times.
- Handle telephone queries regarding all aspects of Respiratory investigations and transfer calls to the appropriate staff member if necessary.
- Type sleep study results letters, upload them to the timeline and send them to external stakeholders.
- Attend all mandatory training as required, including in-house courses and services development training.
- Complete other clerical duties as directed, including reception duties when needed.
- Operate within the constraints of the Data Protection Act and other governance requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English (A‑C essential).
- RSA StageIII typing qualification or proven keyboard skills; accurate typing required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑service mindset.
- Knowledge of the NHS appointment system and experience with audit reporting is preferred.
- Experience supervising a team and working within a busy environment.
