Education ⫽ SEN Support Jobs

You will provide dedicated support to pupils with PMLD, complex learning needs, and additional physical and medical needs. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team, you help create a nurturing, engaging, and accessible learning environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their individual goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
• Support pupils with personal care, mobility, feeding, and medical needs as required.
• Assist teachers in delivering personalized learning activities and sensory-based learning.
• Support communication development through appropriate strategies and resources.
• Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and engagement.
• Implement individual support plans, EHCP targets, and personalized learning goals.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through consistent support.

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, PMLD, or complex needs.
• Caring, patient, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Experience supporting personal care and intimate care needs (desirable).
• Confidence working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
• Adaptable and willing to support pupils with a range of needs.
• Right to work in the UK and available full-time.
• Desirable: experience working within a specialist SEN school; knowledge of PMLD, severe learning difficulties (SLD), autism (ASC), or complex medical needs.
• Experience using sensory approaches and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC.
• Experience supporting pupils with mobility equipment or specialist resources.
• Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.
• Enhanced DBS check (child workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2025) guidance and safer recruitment standards.
