We’re growing our Onward Repairs team and investing in our in‑house service to deliver excellent repairs and maintenance across the Wirral and Runcorn. As a Plumber, you will play an important role in maintaining and improving our customers’ homes, carrying out a wide range of repairs and maintenance work to a high standard. The purpose of the role
To deliver property maintenance services, undertaking repair activities predominantly within customer’s homes, but also voids and for other clients as required.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery
- Assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution delivering value for money, in line with Onward specification or approved best practice. Organise materials, provide detailed information, and effectively communicate with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service.
- Ensure an adequate store of materials is available to operatives, including van‑based stock, and proactively organise workload to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.
Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.
Liaison and Technical Advice
- Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repair requirements and progress of repairs.
Quality
- Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard.
Records
- Complete jobs on PDAs and maintain other records as required, including access details, materials used, job progression and follow‑on information.
Health and Safety
- Undertake work activities in line with all health and safety requirements, demonstrating a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices, and assist the promotion of Health & Safety.
Work Equipment
- Operate light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures, and be responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated company vehicles.
Essential: Skills and Experience
- Sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations.
- Experience of working in a customer‑focused service.
- Proven ability to deliver a quality, customer‑centred repairs service.
- Experience of working in a target‑driven environment.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to the post, in line with HASAWA 1974.
- Experience of using PDA technology (hand‑held/mobile working technology) to record jobs.
- A Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own car.
Desirable: Experience
- Experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.
- Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.
Essential: Qualifications
- Minimum of L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plumbing and relevant experience.
- Appropriate CSCS card.
Desirable: Training and Qualifications
- Relevant health & safety qualifications relating to the sector/construction industry.
- Asbestos awareness training.
- Relevant power tool training.
- Manual handling training.
- Appropriate and current training in COSHH & PPE.
- Access equipment and working at height training e.g. mobile work platforms.

- £35,300 per annum with opportunity for additional earnings through participation in our ‘out of hours’ standby service on a rota basis.
